Lite News

LITE Ltd (LITE (Stockport) Ltd) has been recognised as one of the best training providers in the country following its recent Ofsted inspection where inspectors graded all aspects of the provision as Outstanding.

A team of three Ofsted inspectors, who carried out a four-day inspection, found that our apprenticeships meet exceptionally high standards and apprentices are exceptionally well prepared for their careers in veterinary nursing.

Since being established 40 years ago, LITE Ltd has consistently achieved exam results that exceed the national average. The overall apprenticeship achievement rate had been over 90% for three consecutive years.

At the time of the Ofsted inspection, there were 134 apprentices, .

131 were studying for their Level 3 veterinary nursing qualifications and 3 were studying level 2 apprenticeships.

In their report, the inspectors said:

  • Leaders have a clear and highly ambitious intent for the veterinary nurse curriculum

  • Leaders and tutors have very high expectations for all apprentices

  • Apprentices develop high levels of confidence and resilience in their apprenticeship

  • Apprentices value highly the compassionate support they receive from staff at LITE.

  • Leaders and tutors ensure that apprentices on and off-the-job training is highly effective

  • Tutors provide detailed and constructive feedback to apprentices

LITE Ltd is run by a team of thirteen, including the head of centre Jackie Shopland-Reed, across the two centres in Stockport and St Helens.

Jackie said: “We are delighted to have regained our outstanding status, in our first full inspection since being graded as Good in 2015. We value the very positive feedback we have received from Ofsted. The team of inspectors were very thorough and as well as spending four days in the centre’s, they visited training practices and talked to many of our apprentices and employers.

“It is very rewarding that the inspectors praised the high quality of teaching and the support we provide for apprentices. We also received feedback that apprentices enjoy their learning and feel safe and well supported. Our strong and effective partnerships with employers were also praised, all of which which makes us very proud.”
